TempStars is the evolution beyond the idea of an “agency” - we enable you to find, connect with and book a temp Hygienist or Dental Assistant directly, without the hassle of going back and forth with an “agency”. This means, 24/7 365 days per year, you can post your shift needs and every temp hygienist/assistant within 110km of your office is immediately alerted. From there, you start receiving offers from available hygienists/assistants. And we have a new and improved Job Board that lets you find the perfect match for your office! When you combine our membership pool with targeted hiring criteria, and our database of feedback and reviews, our Job Board is the most powerful way to find the best fit for your office/team.
When you get an offer, you’ll have access to: the hygienist’s/assistant’s year and school of graduation, their resume, star rating, and hourly rate. You then review the hygienist/assistant and the hourly rate and accept the offer that is the best fit. Accepting an offer automatically books and confirms that hygienist/assistant for your shift.
Hourly rates vary depending on the hygienist/assistant, but are always subject to your approval.
We are Canada’s largest and #1 dental temping service - currently connecting over 2500 dental offices with a pool of more than 6500 hygienists and assistants (and growing daily!). And our placement service fee of $38+hst is only ever billed after a placement is completed. No membership or sign-up fees. No surprises.

In terms of hiring permanent/contract (mat leave) staff, we also have a Job Board where it’s free to post jobs for hiring.
One of the great things that we offer our TempStars members is the ability to post their jobs on our board without any fee, yes it’s absolutely free! And if you don’t find any qualified candidates during the course of your job posting, you still pay nothing! If you do find a candidate and decide to hire them, again there is no hiring fee. We do use a “token-based” system for viewing the resumes of candidates that respond to your ad.
If your post is on the job Board already, then when a candidate applies for the job, you’ll see that candidate’s general information which includes:
- Year and school of graduation
- How far from your office they live
- Whether they worked at your office before, and if so what your review of them was
- Their track record for Interview Reliability
- Our proprietary Recommendation Score, which uses our vast database of temping connections and reviews to suggest how happy you would be with the candidate if you hired them.
- Our Recommendation Score is based on their overall reliability and professionalism on TempStars, as well as their work history with your office (if they’ve worked there before).
Once you have reviewed that information you can decide if you want to use 1 token to view the resume. You can also download it once it’s been viewed. You can purchase additional tokens by tapping the token icon on the top right of the job board page. If you have multiple locations, your tokens can be used to view resumes for any of those locations at any time. One resume token is $ 18 + HST. Bulk tokens can be purchased at a discounted rate.
