On occasion (very rarely), a hygienist/assistant will show up for a shift to discover the environment is either unsafe, hostile, or disrespectful.
While 98% of all TempStars hygienists/assistants report being happy with the office during their shift, there is the occasional problem with a work environment.
If you arrive for a shift and feel the need to leave the office because of the work environment or the way you are being treated, follow these steps:
1. Speak with the owner or office manager - bring up your concerns and discuss options to resolve them. Most offices would rather accommodate your concerns so that you can work the shift, rather than see you leave. Often it's a misunderstanding.
2. If the situation is resolved, fantastic! If not, advise the office owner/manager that you'll need to leave the office because of the work environment. If you do have to leave, be sure to let us know right away so we can be involved in the situation. Contact us via our Contact Page.
In addition, we can set your account so you don't see that office's future postings.
As a professional and independent hygienist or assistant, you are responsible for your own actions when you're at an office. It is your responsibility to familiarize yourself with and follow the infection control protocols of the office as long as they meet regulatory guidelines.
No hygienist/assistant should work at an office if they don’t feel comfortable with any of the infection control protocols of the dental office or might be putting themselves, a patient, or their license at risk.
If there is a problem at an office, the first thing you should always do is speak with an office manager or owner. Most situations can easily be discussed and figured out.
Note: You will NEVER be pressured by anyone at TempStars to stay in a work environment that puts yourself, patients, or your license at risk.
