With the reality of Covid-19 and the many variants not going away and the changing guidelines in place by the Government of Ontario, our team has been discussing how to handle reports of symptoms, cancellations, etc. within the province of Ontario. As always, out entire team’s first commitment is to do everything we can to provide a service where dental hygienists, assistants, dental office owners, managers, and patients are connected with each other in as safe a manner as possible.
So until further notice, our policy about Covid is going to be:
If you need to cancel a booked shift because of Covid-19 related issues, flu-like symptoms, illness, exposure, positive test results, etc. then we’ll cancel any shifts you have booked for the coming 10days and place a temporary flag on your account which prevents booking additional shifts for those 10 days.
If you get sick again and need to cancel for the same reason, then based on the health patterns we are seeing, this might mean you are more susceptible to being positive. In these situations, we will place a different temporary flag on your account for 2 months which prevents booking for those two months and cancel any booked shifts you have during that period.
Please note: in some cases we will request to see a doctor’s note about illness and/or a negative/positive test.
This is a safety measure that we are putting in place for the time being until we can better assess the evolving Covid-19 situation. This policy may change depending on new information or guidelines that come out for the Province of Ontario.
_________
We understand that the Government’s guidelines have different isolation times based on vaccination status, however with the tools and information we currently have, the best way we can protect our entire membership is by implementing this policy for anyone from when they notify us of their symptoms. We have the responsibility to err on the side of caution as things with Covid-19 are constantly changing.
However, with everything we do - this policy may change as we get new information and discover more efficient ways to adapt and optimise how we handle the situation.
As always, if you have any questions or concerns please don’t hesitate to reach out .
