TempStars prides itself on having the most caring and respectful community in the dental industry. Our members care for each other and go the extra mile consistently to ensure happy temping matches. Because you're great people :)
Because of your dedication, here at TempStars we have policies in place to support and protect our entire community, from members who are disrespecting the time commitment and professional commitment of booking a shift. When you book a shift, you have to agree and read through the policy that explains your account will be blocked if you do not keep your shift commitments.
We understand that life happens and sometimes things do need to be cancelled. However, the freedom of being able to book your own shifts and create your own schedule allows you to only book shifts where you know you are available and want to work. Again though, we understand sometimes people get sick or accidents happen.
When you cancel a shift your account does get automatically blocked. If the cancellation is over 24h from the Starting Time of the shift, you account is temporarily blocked for two weeks. This is to ensure all our members understand the severity of what cancelling a shift means.
However, we do listen and of course if there is a reason for you canceling, we only ask that you send confirmation (i.e. doctor's note, Covid Test, etc) and we are happy to look into your situation and remove the block if that is the appropriate solution.
In the case of a shift being cancelled less than 24h before the Starting Time, your account gets automatically removed from our service.
This is because when you cancel a shift with such short notice, it really damages the relationship between our hygienist/assistant members and our dental office members.
This is so important to our entire community, because if/when an office stops using TempStars because of a bad experience with one of our members, that affects every other member who might otherwise book temping shifts or be hired by that office.
So we take a very serious and holistic view about the health and growth of our community, and our reputation for providing fast, easy and consistently great temping experiences starts with our members respecting the shift commitments they make.
We are people just like you and we understand things happen. So certainly, if your account has been blocked kindly reach out to us for a conversation - but understand the responsibility you accepted when you booked that shift.
If you have a history of cancelling shifts and want to be considered to be re-instated as a TempStars member, we do have an avenue for that. At the end of the day, TempStars' mission is to enrich the entire dental community, so if you wish to have your account considered for being re-instated, the avenue for doing that is making a donation (amount determined when you email us) to a charity in the dental community. We suggest a few to you when having this conversation, but you are more than welcome to pick your own charity - we just need a receipt of the donation. We do manually audit an account when you request to be re-instated and we do reserve the right to deny the request based on account history and feedback. And please note, this consideration is a one-time consideration. If you were to be re-instated and continued to cancel shifts, your account would become permanently blocked without the option of doing a second donation.
The reason we do this avenue for re-instating members is, we believe anyone can change their reliability if they really want to. But we don't believe TempStars can encourage you to change, without you first wanting to. So we ask that you make a donation to a charity to show your commitment to keeping your future shifts. It's really a win-win-win situation.
A worthy charity gets your full donation, TempStars gains the confidence that you are committed to keeping all your future shifts, and you get to become an active member again.
However, if future shifts are cancelled after a donation, we do reserve the right to permanently remove you from our membership again.
For dental offices, we have strict policies as well. If a hygienist or assistant is cancelled on within 24h, that office is required to compensate the hygienist/assistant for their time.
Note: We also understand it might not always be possible financially to donate a certain amount of money, in those situations we are happy to work with you and find a solution.
